My Day to Day

I'm focused on guiding students in exploring how technology intersects with ethics and society, fostering critical discussions about its potential for public good. In the classroom, I emphasize the positives of digital innovation, challenging my students to envision how emerging technologies can address societal issues. My role is about teaching, inspiring, and rethinking how we define a good life in a tech-driven world​.

My path in life has been direct

    I grew up in Brazil.

  • 2.

    I spent 20 years in the software engineering industry, mastering technical skills and understanding the societal impact of technology.

  • 3.

    Inspired to find more meaning in my work, I transitioned from engineering to academia, focusing on ethical technology development.

  • 4.

    In 2018, I created Technology and the Common Good, a course exploring how emerging tech can address societal challenges.

  • 5.

    I led a student trip to Brazil, where we studied the impact of mobile devices on previously disconnected communities.

  • 6.

    I collaborated with smallholder farmers in Brazil, using computer vision to improve organic farming and reduce pesticide reliance.

  • 7.

    My work has tackled the digital divide by supporting initiatives that bring digital literacy to underserved populations.

  • 8.

    I also advocate for integrating digital studies into education from an early age to prepare students for the impact of technology.
