My Day to Day

As a semi-retired professional, I balance various responsibilities and passions. Currently, I'm dedicating around 15 hours a week to a board position at a company facing strategic challenges. I volunteer at UCLA, contributing to the life sciences division and advising on fundraising opportunities. I engage with the higher education philanthropy network and work on initiatives like a men of color strategy. Staying active and involved in these meaningful projects keeps me both busy and fulfilled.

Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

    I graduated from UCLA with a degree in political science and history.

  • 2.

    I started my career working in government and politics, working as a legislative aide to the Assembly Majority Leader in Sacramento, California.

  • 3.

    I transitioned into finance and spent most of my career in investment banking.

  • 4.

    In 2009, I became the first chief financial officer for the University of California system.

  • 5.

    After five years as the CFO for the UC system, I became the president of the ECMC Foundation.

  • 6.

    As president of the foundation, I spearheaded the mission to inspire and facilitate improvements that affect educational outcomes for underserved populations.

  • 7.

    I’m now retired but I still stay active in meaningful projects through volunteering, philanthropy, and board positions.
