I've taken a lot of twists and turns
1.
I loved computers and science, but hated high school.
2.
Accepted a full ride scholarship to Annapolis because I felt obligated to try out the opportunity.
3.
Hated college. Dropped out to find what really mattered and met God.
4.
I became a missionary in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji with YWAM and Hillsong.
5.
Finished college, got married and worked any odd job, from custodial to clerical.
6.
Then I, my wife, and parents had dreams of me becoming a teacher in a year.
7.
It was crazy. Teachers were losing jobs, but I got my teaching credential, and started subbing.
8.
Within a year, I landed my first teaching position, just like the dreams God gave me. And I love it.
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
You got your head in the clouds. God doesn't want you to stop your life and worry about him. Go get a job.
How I responded:
Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things-- your passion, your job, your family, will be added to you.
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
I didn't have enough money. But when I started working towards my dreams, people started helping. Plus, I got loans when appropriate.
I hated school, so I was diagnosed with ADD, and I was prescribed medication for it. It seemed to help, but it also made me eat less and stay up all night. It wasn't until I met God that my ADD vanished and I began to enjoy school.
Even though I knew they were wrong, I became addicted to drugs in high school. I felt like they helped give my boring life some meaning. I could not stop using drugs until I met Jesus Christ. He touched me, set me free, and gave my life meaning.
