Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

Working for the government is awful because it takes so long for anything to get done, and nobody actually works hard or cares.

  • How I responded:

It is true that government work can go at a slower pace than private industry, but once you are in it, you learn about how and why it works the way it does - to ensure that money and effort is not wasted doing something wrong. You never know what it will be like to work somewhere or the people you work with until you're there. You may find that what sounded bad before is actually a benefit - a slow pace might sound boring, but it actually may help you maintain work-life balance.
