How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Changing career paths after investing time to get a PhD is risky. There are not enough job openings and there is too much competition.
How I responded:
Belief in yourself. Sounds cliche but deep down you know your own capabilities. Luck helps a bit but setting yourself up for success and never giving up will get you to your goal. Also, network network network. Small connections can get you further than you every thought possible. Help people as often as you can and it will come back to you 10x.
